Women represent more than 50% of the population in many nations, yet their part in the workforce in many countries is minor, and their employment conditions and compensation are often worse than that of men. Introducing women into the workforce is part of an empowerment process in which women are given the power to become strong, contributing members of society, who have a say and whose voice can be heard. However, working women have a ripple effect on a multitude of levels from the obvious personal, to their position within the family, the community and finally their significant contribution to the economy from the local to the national level.
