Task-Oriented Learning
Our methodology for Training Development is titled TOL. It is a methodology for training development in any professional domain including technical areas, management and soft skills development. It is an integration between the Israeli National Standard for Training Development and Learning and Thinking Enhancement(LATE).
The courses designed by the TOL methodology train participants to carry out their jobs, including all its components, under a wide variety of working scenarios. In this process, the trainees learn to cope with the symptoms and various situations, which they are likely to encounter during their work.
The basic principle of TOL is to adapt to reality. The three basic essential components of the method are:
Job Analysis - In order to guarantee full compliance of training with future job requirements, the major components of the job are listed and serve as a basis for defining course objectives, examinations and content. Where TOL goes beyond traditional training development methodologies is the use of LATE tools to map the critical cognitive functions that are required under all job scenarios. The output of this phase is a formal document which details all the job-components in all working scenarios. It should be validated and signed by somebody who is authorized to approve it.
Criteria Examinations – Before the design of the training contents a set of intermediate and final criteria examinations is composed. These examinations should prove that the trainee is capable to perform properly in all the working scenarios detailed in the job-component' document. Again, somebody who is authorized to do so has to validate the examinations and approve that they comply with the job-analysis.
Training by Progressive Task Situations – due to the fact that in real life, a job requires performance of skills in an integrated manner, a course developed according to the TOL methodology is based on a sequence of integrated performance situations. These gradually develop throughout the course, progressing from the simple and easy to complex and difficult situations.
