An electronic laboratory, depot level of maintenance, had to send, on a yearly basis, subassemblies to be repaired by the manufacturers, with an annual cost of a few million dollars. A three year professional training program of several technicians in an advanced professional training centre in Europe did not solve the problem – the technicians were unable to repair the subassemblies. Following a LECAassessment, a group of technicians with high potential was identified. They were trained during seven months, based on TOL, with the integration of LATEexercises, for three hours each week. Since then, for more than a decade, all subassemblies were repaired in the laboratory and not a single piece of equipment was sent to the manufacturer for repair. The customer saved the cost of the training within the first year of implementation
